New Report Indicates Lowered Cost of Insurance and Repairs for Ford Vehicles

If you own a Ford, or are considering the purchase of a new one, there's great news for your pocketbook!  For Ford and Lincoln Mercury owners many insurance companies factor in the low cost of model-specific repairs when coming up with a price quote, making insurance for Ford vehicles lower, in many cases, than for other vehicles in the same class.

In 2009 the Ford Motor Company created an engineering center in Allen Park, Michigan that would actually help lower the cost of repairs for Ford automobiles that had been involved in an accident, by designing features such as bigger, stronger bumpers that minimize damage to adjacent parts secondary to impact from a collision.

The Insurance Cost Information Booklet for 2010 by the NHTSA indicates that the cost of insurance for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles are listed as having lower collision insurance cost than any other auto brand. The report should be available at all dealerships this spring, so that potential buyers can compare insurance costs before selecting the make and model of their new vehicle.

Some of the vehicles shown to have the lowest insurance rates (according to the government report), are 2007-2009 model years for the F-Series trucks, Taurus, the Ford E-350 Wagon, and the Ford Focus. In comparison, insurance and repair costs for Honda and Toyota models were reported as being three times higher than the Ford cars and trucks, based on the cost comparison information from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The end result of the study showed that nearly 78% of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models rated at or better than the industry average.

Vice President of Ford’s Customer Service Department, Frederick Tony stated; "Vehicle affordability continues to be the most important purchase consideration for car and truck buyers, rivaled only by fuel economy," "We design our vehicles to be easier and more affordable to repair because we know this saves our customers money in insurance premiums and repair costs over the long term." In addition to these savings when you purchase a Ford, statistics also show that the resell value has risen 23% as a result of a bigger demand for American-made cars, and specifically for Ford vehicles, so you will also end up with a lower depreciation rate, which translates to more cash in your pocket when you trade or sell your Ford.
