Ford's On a Recall Roll

Ford seems to have run into a manufacturing problem recently which affects several makes and model years. Here’s the rundown for those affected.

4,532 E-150, E-250, and E-450 trucks and vans are being recalled due to a defect with the windshields which cause them to bubble when exposed to hot temperatures. The windshields were improperly manufactured between May 12 and May 26 of 2011. This causes the driver to have impaired visibility. No injuries or crashed have been reported due to this issue. You will be notified by mail beginning January 27 if you own an affected vehicle and the windshield will be replaced at no cost. Recall number 11C20.

300 2011-2012 Explorers are being recalled due to steering gears which were installed from September 2013 to the present. The gears can lock up resulting in total steering failure and leaving the driver with no control over the vehicle. This recall begins January 24 and you will receive a letter if it affects you. Recall number 13S14.

In September 2012 Ford recalled all 2012 Edge vehicles due to the possibility of an engine fire caused by a leak in the fuel line. These, along with 2013 models with 2.0 liter engines, are being recalled a second time for the same problem. The fuel line damper metal housing could crack causing a continuous gas leak. The odor will be noticeable in the car and under the right conditions can cause an engine fire. This recall begins February 28. Recall number 13S13.

7,000 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid vehicles are being recalled due to a manufacturing problem which causes the vehicle to slip out of park on its own and roll away. The transmission range sensor may have a malfunction. This recall started earlier this month. Recall number 13C09.

As usual all defective or malfunctioning parts will be replaced at no charge to the owner. If you have any questions Ford may be contacted at 800-436-7332. Refer to the appropriate recall number when calling.
