Sometimes the important thing is the destination. Other times, it’s the journey. If you need to get to your destination fast, but you want to enjoy the journey as well, Brabus has the vehicle for you.

Brabus is a German high performance aftermarket tuning company, founded in 1977, which specializes in turning “off the rack” vehicles into full on power houses. The latest offering is (or should I say was) a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon. Yes, a station wagon, originally designed to transport families on camping vacations or bringing home loads of groceries for said family. Brabus modified the 5.5-liter V8 engine and boosted it to 5.9 liters and a whopping 850 hp. Add twin turbos and custom manifolds and you’ve got 1,069 lb-ft of torque which can take you from 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds, if you were so inclined. Brabus says it could be even more powerful but they had to take into account engine longevity. Good thinking if you need your car for more than one trip. They also added 19- or 20-inch wheels and removed the electronic speed limiter originally installed by Mercedes so now the vehicle travels at 186 mph instead of the paltry factory speed of 155. If you spring for high performance tires it’ll go 217 mph! That would sure cut down on the number of rest areas you need to stop at.

The Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo has been further customized with grid-stitched leather seats, a rear diffuser, front and rear aprons, side skirts, and the Mercedes star is replaced with a rather large letter “B”. I suppose it’s still a “family” station wagon but I wouldn’t recommend the higher speeds with children in the car who just ate. It’ll never come off those leather seats. If the Griswolds had owned this wagon, I wonder if they would have made it to Wally World with fewer issues.
