Look at Me!

Look at Me!

Everyone is a unique individual—just like everyone else. For some reason, human beings want to show the world that they are special, different, and one of a kind. Unfortunately a lot of people broadcast this fact on their vehicles leaving the rest of us to shake our heads and be thankful that we aren’t quite that different. Let me illustrate with a sampling of the odd things you can buy for your car.

Are you a manly man? Do you want the world to know that you have an uncanny ability to grow facial hair? How about a moustache for your grille? Ladies, if you like to flirt, extend your ability with car lashes on your headlights.

Maybe you want the world to know you don’t live in the best part of town and you survive life threatening situations on a daily basis. Put these bullet hole stickers all over your car and the girls will see you as a death-defying bad boy.

Is your life so busy and your job so important that you don’t have time to stop for a meal? No problem! You can get a French fry holder to hang on your window or a table to attach to your steering wheel. With these you can avoid embarrassing spills on your business suit, but the table may get in the way of avoiding other vehicles on the road.

Most of us can’t live without our music on the road. We’ve got MP3 players, CD players, cassette players, and 8-track players. What did they do before all this technology? Take a look at the picture to figure it out.

Have you ever been behind one of those people who have the rear window of their vehicle packed with stuffed animals? This one confuses me. How do they see?

The list could go on and on. Why is it so important that our personal space be so personal? I have to admit to owning several non-standard accessories for my car. My floor mats, window clings, front plate, and antenna ball all say something about my personality. My license plate is also personalized. I can’t explain it, but those of us who do this just can’t help proclaiming our originality.
