The Jaguar F-Type Goes Full-On Union Jack

The Jaguar E-Type, famously classified as the most beautiful car ever by Enzo Ferrari, is one of the most famous British cars of all time. Its successor, the all-new F-Type, may never reach those levels of legend, but it's doing its best to earn a reputation as the most British car of all time. Jaguar has built a series of Union-Jack-themed F-Types to celebrate the launch of its latest roadster. The unique convertibles are part of the #YourTurnBritain contest.

Not only are Jaguar's specially themed F-Types British cars covered in the British flag, but they were inspired by Britain's most famous television show—BBC's Top Gear. The cars feature red, white, and blue striping inspired by the Union Jack and will be on a tour of Britain throughout the month.

#YourTurnBritain is a social media campaign that reminds us a bit of the promotion that supported the Dodge Dart launch. However, instead of inviting people just to capture the F-Type in the wild, it challenges them to take photos that "encapsulate the best of modern Britain" and share them via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr.

Many of the 2,000 entries that have already been submitted focus on design, sport, film, and music, but Jaguar assures that all postings that are in line with the 'Modern Britain' theme are welcomed and eligible for win.

"The F-Type is a game-changer for the Jaguar brand and introduces our product to many new sectors of the market," said Jag's UK marketing director Ken Forbes. "Already, the car has enjoyed significant successes around the world, with awards, accolades, and very strong sales, and is well on its way to becoming another design icon from Jaguar. #YourTurnBritain is an opportunity to celebrate all things British, iconic and of the moment, which is how we consider the F-Type—a symbol of great British success. We are delighted with the campaign and wish everyone who posts images the very best of luck."

Unfortunately for the winners, the "unforgettable F-Type driving experiences" don't sound like they actually win a car. Still, at the very least it sounds like a drive in the F-Type, which is better than just ogling a rolling flag via the Internet.

We're not sure that we fancy the Union Jack F-Type, but we are excited that the F-Type has hit the market. The new roadster's three trim levels come powered by a 340-hp 3.0-liter supercharged V6, a 380-hp 3.0 supercharged V6, and a 495-hp 5.0-liter supercharged V8. They start at $69,000 in the US.
