Why So Many Love Tesla Motors

Nearly every American has heard or read about Tesla Motors as they are making headlines for all kinds of reasons lately. There Model S car’s quick change battery and high mileage capabilities are almost as interesting as their battles with states to get permission to make direct sales to customers. The brand has proven to be so innovative and popular that even General Motors is wary of what Tesla sales could mean for the future of GM. So, how did such a high-end and costly brand become so loved by the general public? The answer is complicated.

Los Angeles is home to the Tesla Motors design studios. This space is a huge and open layout where many prototype cars have taken up the floor. Of these prototypes, only one model, the Tesla Model S, has been made available to drivers in the United States. The Tesla Model X will make its debut in 2014, and the company is now taking reservations from customers.

Success seems imminent for Tesla Motors, but investors and stockholders are still looking for more. Over the last ten years of Tesla’s legacy, there have been many bumps in the road—delays, questionable leadership, brushes with bankruptcy, and short sales. Tesla posted its first profitable quarter in May—with $11.2 million in sales.

The unusual thing about Tesla Motors is the company’s approval from the public. They have become somewhat known as the Apple of the automotive industry—in image, of course; sales are nowhere near what Apple sees yearly.

All in all, Tesla Motors does make a really decent product. The Tesla Model S is a fast electric vehicle. The first electric sports car on the market, it can reach 60 miles per hour in 4.2 seconds, and is the highest rated car by Consumer Reports, getting an astounding 99 out of 100 from their private tests.

In addition to impressive performance, the Tesla Model S has many innovative features and the design is very impressive. The interior and the exterior both are sleek and eye-catching. Tesla has loaded the Model S with the latest technology and features. Their upcoming Model X shares many of the same impressive characteristics as the Model S, but comes in a much roomier package—the Model X is more like a small-sized crossover than sports car.

Tesla’s innovations and products seem to have the big guys working hard to keep up, and that’s a huge reason the public seems to have a place in their hearts for this underdog.
