A number of Nissan vehicles have been getting the NISMO treatment for the past year or so, with Nissan having outlined a broader role for its parts and performance arm. The latest is one of the most obvious candidates: the 2014 370Z sports car. The 370Z NISMO enjoys some distincitive interior and exterior design themes.

Pierre Loing, Vice President, Product and Advanced Planning and Strategy, Nissan Americas said: "The 370Z NISMO, since its introduction as part of the original Nissan 350Z lineup, has embodied the spirit of NISMO – race-proven engineering that is attainable. With the enhancements for the 2014 model year and the addition of the new JUKE NISMO, we're unifying the look and feel of these distinctive NISMO models and paving the way for additional NISMO vehicles to follow."

That unified look includes the dark gray on thefront and rear fascias, lower side sills, side mirrors and NISMO rear spoiler. All of those elements, save for the side sills, also get red pinstripe accenting, and buyers can opt for even more red by choosing the Solid Red exterior, a new option that replaces the Magma Red previously offered.

The NISMO Z also includes an extended nose, chin spoiler, special side sills and a unique rear bumper for controlling airflow. The model measures 6.2 inches longer than the standard 370Z Coupe. In addition to the red option, it's available inPearl White, Magnetic Black and Gun Metallic exterior paint schemes.

The 370Z NISMO interior gets black-and-red NISMO seats with red stitching, a new Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, aluminum pedals and a red NISMO tachometer. A plaque above the floor-mounted console provides authentification, including serial number and model year. AnAM/FM/CD/AUX 4-speaker audio system comes standard and a Bose package is offered as an option.

Under the NISMO's hood, the 3.7-liter V6 engine puts out 350 hp (up from 332 hp on the 2013 370Z). Nissan says thatexclusive H-configured exhaust system design and muffler tuning, along with optimized ECM (Engine Control Module) calibration, provide further performance increases over the standard 370Z. The 350-hp powerplant is mated to a6-speed manual transmission with SynchroRev Match synchronized downshift rev matching system. Nissan says the SynchroRev Match system provides for smoother shifting and allows the driver to focus more on steering and braking. For drivers that prefer a purer experience, the system can be turned off at the push of a button.

The NISMO 370 rides on5-spoke, 19-inch RAYS forged aluminum-alloy wheels (19x9.5-inch front, 19x10.5-inch rear) centered insideBridgestone Potenza S001 Y-rated high-performance tires (245/40ZR19 front, 285/35ZR19 rear). Thedouble-wishbone front/4-link rear suspension includes special NISMO tuning, and NISMO sport brakes bring the vessel to a stop.

The 2014 370Z NISMO will mosey on into dealerships this summer.
