Inside Koenigsegg (Video)

Ever wonder what goes into the most expensive of hypercars to warrant seven-figure price tags? Koenigsegg is getting ready to show us in a new video series called Inside Koenigsegg. The nine-part series premieres on the DRIVE YouTube channel tomorrow, January 8.

The purpose of the new series is to step inside Koenigsegg's Angelholm, Sweden headquarters and look at what makes a supercar super. The series sets out to explore the "outer limits of innovation in the automotive industry" and how that innovation "within the highest echelon of sports car manufacturers" affects the rest of the automotive industry. Company founder Christian Von Koenigsegg will serve as host.

"This video series will draw back the curtain on technological developments inside Koenigsegg’s R&D facility," Christian Von Koenigsegg said. "The technologies that comprise today’s hypercars like the Koenigsegg Agera R, I am sure will be commonplace in the mass-produced vehicles of tomorrow. Viewers of this series will have a better understanding of how cars of the next 20 years will be different from the cars of today — how they’ll perform better, look better and be more efficient in every way. After the success of DRIVE’s first video about Koenigsegg and with the feedback we received, we realized Koenigsegg has been unintentionally guarded over the years. Delving deeper into Koenigsegg with DRIVE was the natural next step."

While the series will cover broader topics of technology and innovation, it's sure to include some good-old fashioned car porn. The Agera R, which set Labor Day 2011 on fire with world records, has been confirmed, and we'd be surprised if we don't see others as well.

The January 8 debut will look at carbon fiber, and future episodes will cover subjects like engine development and product testing and tuning. Episodes will air each Tuesday at YouTube.com/Drive.
