Ford Mustang, Jeep Wrangler And Others Are Voted Most Tweakable

When we think of aftermarket customization, some of the first categories to come to mind include "muscle car," "Japanese sports car" and "hardcore off-roader." Indeed, all of those categories were represented in this year's SEMA Awards. Some of the most iconic models to grace those categories were declared the hottest to outfit with aftermarket parts.

The cars that specialty equipment manufacturers feel are the most amenable to accessorizing are the Ford Mustang, Ford F-Series, Jeep Wrangler and Scion FR-S. The Mustang earned the award of Hottest Car, the Scion FR-S the Hottest Sport Compact, the Ford F-Series the Hottest Truck, and the Jeep Wrangler the Hottest 4x4-SUV. Looking around at some of the accessorized models at the show, it's hard to argue with the selections.

"The SEMA Award helps guide consumers toward the hottest-trending and most accessory friendly vehicles on the market," said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. "Our SEMA Show exhibitors are industry visionaries who determine the winners of the SEMA Award based on the vehicles they showcase in their booths. Each booth vehicle represents a ‘vote' and the most prominent models in each category are the winners."

More than 2,000 companies specializing in safety, performance and cosmetic accessories made the journey to this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas. According to the show, exhibitors are investing more in the winning vehicles than any others. Owners of those vehicles can find all kinds of aftermarket components and accessories should they want to enhance the look or ride of their models.

Tuned versions of the winning vehicles at the show included the pictured 750-hp Mustang GT by DSO Eyewear and the Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper, which rolls on massive 42-inch Super Swamper Bogger tires.
