Honda To Unveil Production NSX In Detroit

When it first revealed the concept NSX at this year's Detroit auto show, Honda said that it planned to get the car to market within three years. So we weren't expecting to see the production NSX for another couple years. However, the latest reports say that Honda will have it ready in a few short months.

After speaking with Honda executives at this week's Sao Paulo Motor Show, Auto Express reports that Honda will bring the production NSX to the 2013 North American International Auto Show in January, just one year after first revealing the concept. The car will reportedly look identical to the 2012 Detroit concept version, which is currently on display in Brazil and will also be shown at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.

The latest report doesn't have any new details about the car itself, but we know from the past that the NSX will use Honda's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. The powertrain uses two electric motors for torque delivery to the front wheels and a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V-6, working in conjunction with a dual-clutch transmission with integrated electric motor, powering the rear wheels. The combination is designed to offer the acceleration capabilities of a V-8 with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder. It's expected to have somewhere around 400 hp.

Assuming this report is correct, we'll be able to fill in the key details and specs in less than three months.
