A Four-Door Lamborghini Aventador Coming Next Year?

After years’ worth of sedan rumors, it's looking like Lamborghini's first four-door will come in a slightly different form. Instead of designing a new four-door model, like it did with the Estoque concept, Lamborghini will reportedly extend the wheelbase of its Aventador coupe and add a pair of clamshell doors.

CAR magazine reports that Lamborghini will unveil the Aventador GT at next year's Geneva Motor Show. It won't exactly be a proper sedan, but it will have two small jump seats in back, along with two small suicide doors. The GT will be planted on an extended wheelbase. To go along with its more road trip-friendly demeanor, the Aventador GT will also receive some softening in terms of styling - at least as much softening as you can get while still being a Lamborghini Aventador.

CAR's information is very similar to the Aventador GT described by Automobile this past summer.

It's unclear if Lamborghini has any production intentions for the GT, or if the car will be purely conceptual like last year's Aventador J. After a reported back and forth between a sedan and SUV, the latter appeared to be the clear winner when Lambo unveiled the Urus crossover concept. However, reports following that debut suggested that Lamborghini was still considering the sedan. While an extended Aventador isn't exactly the Estoque-like sedan that we were expecting, it could give Lamborghini buyers a somewhat more practical four-seat option alongside the Urus and super-coupes.

Before the four-door Aventador comes into focus, Lamborghini will reveal the Aventador Roadster. CAR indicates that the debut will come this fall, so it's a little surprising we didn't see it in Paris. That model is expected to use a retractable hard-top similar to the Ferrari 458 Spider and McLaren MP4-12C Spider.
