Lexus Shows The LF-CC Concept Before The Paris Motor Show

Earlier this year, Lexus made a stir with the sporty 2 + 2 concept it calls the LF-LC. For the Paris Motor Show, it will premiere the closely related LF-CC concept. Conveniently enough for us impatient industry watchers, Lexus has revealed and detailed the sporty concept ahead of the Paris world debut.

A little more polished, but a little less dazzling than the LF-LC, the LF-CC molds some of the LC's styling cues into a more compact package. The car shares prominent elements like the spindle grille and air intakes below the headlamps, but makes a clearly distinguished move from "dramatic concept" toward "production-ready sports car." It includes a sporty, rear-slung profile; raked windshield; trunk spoiler; and bold front fenders. The airflow regulating fins toward the rear fenders help to increase down force on the rear drive wheels. The car is brushed in Fluid Titanium paint.

Up front a set of 3-LED projector headlamps cast light onto the road ahead. Independent Daytime Running Lights are integrated into the upper bumper. Lexus equips the rear with three-dimensional, L-shaped combination lamps.

Like the LF-LC, the LF-CC is designed as a hybrid. The Lexus Hybrid Drive combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and high-output, water-cooled permanent magnet electric motor. The hybrid system also includes a generator, high-performance battery, a power split device that uses planetary reduction gears to combine and re-allocate power from the engine, electric motor and generator according to operational requirements, and a compact power control unit. Lexus has targeted CO2 emissions below 100g/km.

The LF-CC's interior is defined by a dual zone dashboard that pairs an upper multi-display screen with an "Operation Zone" consisting of a shift lever and touch tracer display for remote system control. The cabin is spacious and driver centric, featuring a wide-grip steering wheel and high-visibility instrument dials. It is polished off with amber leather trim, metallic finishes and soft-touch materials.

While we're still waiting patiently for an LF-LC production announcement, Lexus comes right out and declares that the LF-CC previews a new D-segment mid-sized coupe. Lexus also plans to bring the hybrid powertrain to market.
