First 2014 Mazda6 Photo Leaks

As nice of an update as the new Mazda6 appears to be, we were getting a little worn out by all the teasing. We covered the first three videos, but had to start ignoring the teaser barrage. A run-of-the-mill mid-sized sedan just isn't worth that much teasing and analysis.

Thankfully, the power of the Internet has stepped in to put an end Mazda's teaser campaign at four videos. A photo originally leaked on Russian blog AutoWP shows the first full look at the Mazda6's front end. We imagine a full official reveal will follow soon.

As we already knew, the production sedan shares its five-point grille with the Takeri concept. It gets a bit of polishing around the headlamps and lower bumper. It appears to keep some pretty bulging fender lines, but we won't know exactly how they compare to the Takeri until we see a full profile shot. From what we have seen, they'll be nearly as big and swoopy as on the concept. The extended chrome trim that outlines the grille tightens the cohesiveness of the front end, making for a fluid transition into the headlamps and fenders.

A quick comparison with the current Mazda6 shows that the new car gets some extra chiseling on the hood and front-end and should be sportier overall. The headlamps appear broader, more rounded and better integrated into the greater face of the car.

Mazda has said that the Mazda6 is the second car to be equipped with Kodo design language and Skyactiv technologies, following the 2013 CX-5. It'll use the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder as the crossover in the US market, but it's not clear if Mazda will offer its 2.2-liter Skyactiv turbodiesel here. The automaker did show the Takeri concept with the turbo, which seems to suggest it will.

We expect Mazda will reveal the car via press release now that it's been leaked. If not, we will see it at the 2012 Paris Motor Show in September.
