Golf R Fans Faceoff For Ultimate Fan Experience

The date is set. Volkswagen’s Golf R Ultimate Fan Experience competition will end today, May 14, 2012. Unlike other, gimmicky pseudo-advertisement, commercial competitions, the Golf R Ultimate Fan Experience gives contestants a prize worthy of note: seven days, six nights in Germany with a tour of VW’s global headquarters and an actual test track run on Nurburgring.

Entering the running is as simple as downloading an official ‘Drivers Forever’ application and describing why you want to win in less than 256 characters. As a disclaimer, though, if you need to be reminded that the number 256 is incidentally the same amount of horsepower found on the 2012 Golf R, then perhaps this competition isn’t for you.

But hefty hitting power is only the beginning of what makes the Golf R special. Tack on 4MOTION all-wheel drive, bling-o-rific 18 inch alloy wheels, sport trimmed leather seats, the R body kit, and a bunch of optional tech upgrades packed into a nimble, yet practical, Golf body, and a Nurburgring run in the 2012 Golf R seems like a mandate from heaven.

Since the Ultimate Fan Experience has been running since last month and we’re coming toward the final days of faceoff, VW has decided to grace the internet community with a few samples of fan responses. Feel free to peruse for ideas.

“This would be the experience of a lifetime for my husband and me. We are HUGE VW enthusiasts and have owned over 75 of them in 13 years! We are so excited for the release of the Golf R! This would be our absolute dream to go to Germany and drive the R!” – Cherie B.; Beaverton, OR

“I am an owner of a 2007 GLI. Since our daughter was born 14 months ago, I became such a slow driver that my GLI is looking to replace me with a new owner that has more fast. Please help me regain my car’s respect by sending to relearn how to drive VWs!” – Eli R.; Frisco, TX

Remember, VW will stop collection responses today. So, if you’re looking for a week of Germanic glory, only a few days remain. The alternative is to drop $34,000 to $36,000 and pay for international plane tickets, hotels, and track time. Let the submission frenzy begin! But good luck trying to one up my description, which includes references to the terrible and amazing things a romantic getaway with the Golf R would do to my life.
