Build Your Own (Paper) Bugatti Veyron For (Mostly) Free

More so than most any other car on the road, the Bugatti Veyron delivers a mix of intrigue and indifference. It's a car that you can't help but have some emotion over - its distinct look, world record numbers, massive powertrain and horrible, horrible fuel economy just demand an opinion one way or another. Yet it's a car that you'll certainly never own and probably never even see driven, so your opinion is almost for naught.

Well, you may never own an actual Veyron - or any other 1,000+ hp supercar - but if you have a little time on your hands, you can build a pretty accurate large-scale model.

Thanks to the Internet, the timeless hobby of model cars is a little cheaper and more readily available. No longer do you have to pore over kits and paints at a hobby shop (unless that's your thing), you can simply find a paper kit, print it from the comfort of your bedroom and spend time piecing together a hot supercar.

The Bugatti Veyron kit has 159 pieces spread across 44 pages of computer paper that build into a 2.5-foot model. As you can see in the picture, it's a pretty accurate and intricate representation of a black-and-red Veyron.

The kit was designed by Taras Lesko and his firm Visual Spicer. Lesko offers it for free download, though you might want to take into account how much time and effort he probably spent designing the kit, and drop a donation as good karma. In a response to comments on the website, Lesko recommends 110-lb. 8.5 x 11" cardstock paper, explaining that regular printer paper probably wouldn't be heavy enough to support the model.

If you're not sure if building a papercraft Veyron is your speed, check out the video below for a fast-paced look at the build.
