2013 Subaru BRZ Gets Price Tag

The Subaru BRZ was originally rumored to be the more upscale of the two sports coupes coming out of the great Subaru-Toyota team-up. In spite of those rumors, the Subaru got the same exact engine and output as its Toyota cousins. While it doesn't pack more power, it does pack a little more price.

The Subaru BRZ officially starts at $25,495 in North America, as announced by Subaru this week. That's just under $1,300 more than the Scion FR-S, which was priced last month. The base model uses a six-speed manual transmission; the automatic version starts at $26,595. Both base models, called 'Premium' by Subaru, come with touchscreen GPS navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

Limited models include leather seats with Alcantara inserts, heated seats and mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control system, fog lights, Keyless Access & Start and body-color decklid spoiler. Limited pricing starts at $27,495 with a six-speed manual transmission and $28,595 for the automatic.

All prices are before a $750 delivery charge.

As we've covered in the past, the BRZ is powered by a 200-hp 2.0-liter boxer engine driving the rear wheels. Its low curb weight and low center of gravity contribute to its exciting driving experience.

The BRZ hits dealers this spring.

wow what an ignorant commnet......im no mustang fan but as a true car enthusiast I have to say your long and what sounds like an alcohol fueled rant is pure foolishness. Comparing a jetta to a mustang?, the mustang a marketing gimmick? The mustang with a 305 hp V6 and rear wheel drive starts at $22,000 thats as much as a focus mildly equipped $15,000 to $17,000 is econobox territory like the nissan versa, ford fiesta, toyota yaris which frankly the BRZ shouldnt be much more than those cars it should be less than the mustang in price it should start around $18,000 almost $30,000 for a 200hp sports car is ridiculous. Its no surprise that a very compact, lighter, lower, rear wheel drive car outhandles a big long tall heavy mustang thats common sense anyone that didnt think that this car would handle better than the mustang before even viewing the video is dense but the bottom line is a sports car is different things to different people having a "performance car" that handles well but is low on power just doesnt seem much like a sports car to me a honda civic, ford focus, those type cars also deliver that same description. I dont believe a car needs a huge engine and 300+hp to be a sports car but the fact that my new sports car is alot slower than a Toyota Camry just doesnt seem right. If you want a fun to drive car thats high on power, fast, and relatively cheap than the mustang here is the better choice, if you want a car thats small and handles well and feels more in touch with a "track" than buy the BRZ different things for different people.
