Toyota Reinvents The Camry In Funny Super Bowl Ad

If auto industry advertising is any indication of the greater field, this year's Super Bowl commercials should be nothing short of legendary. That is, if some companies actually wait until the game to show their ads. The latest fun, creative automotive ad comes from Toyota.

When you have a product as stalwart and successful as the Toyota Camry, you really don't need to reinvent that much. But you still want to redesign it every now and again to keep it fresh. And that's the focus of Toyota's Super Bowl commercial called 'Reinvented'.

The commercial takes a humorous approach to how things can drastically improve when they're reinvented - like a couch made from bikini-clad women (and dudes) and a baby that doesn't poop. It's a fun, whimsical commercial that leaves the viewer waiting for what's next.

"Reinvention is a powerful idea and one we took to heart when we redesigned America’s most popular car with the launch of the 2012 Camry and elevated it above the competition," said Bill Fay, group vice president of marketing at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., in a press release. "The Super Bowl provides a forum to really drive home the reinvention message of the seventh-generation Camry, using humor to resonate with the American public."

While I think Toyota nails it in the entertainment and creativity departments, the 'reinvention' theme is an odd choice for the Camry. The Camry, which Toyota says has been the best-selling car in North America for 10 years, really hasn't needed that much reinvention. Minor updates are more than ample for such a car. On the other hand, the purposely exaggerated reinventions in the commercial are all pretty revolutionary moves. It seems like the commercial would better fit the Toyota Prius Plug-In, which takes a successful model and adds a whole new twist to make it better - just like all of the conceived examples in the commercial.

Toyota released the extended version of the commercial this week. You can view it below. 'Reinvented' will be one of two 30-second spots that Toyota uses in its return to Super Bowl advertising this Sunday. The company has been absent from Super Bowl advertising for three years.

Very funny ad i really like the baby in it, cant wait to see all these ads air on Sunday.

When i saw this ad on Sunday it was alot different but still good.
