Don't Try This At Home: Bentley Continental GT Ski-Joring

We'd think that if you had the means to own a Bentley Continental GT and lived in the tiny rugged-mountain playground known as Switzerland, you'd be busy train-setting to lavish ski resorts like St. Moritz and Gstaad every weekend. Ski joring sounds like something that you'd take up if you lived someplace like rural Minnesota.

But I guess even Alpine populations need to find new ways to enjoy the snow every now and again. This particular way includes a Bentley Continental GT, a rope tow and a pair of skis.

To be fair, these aren't just bored Swiss citizens. It's a crew led by Bentley itself, a crew that seems determined to show staff members of Auto Express a good time while showcasing the snow-tired, 4WD prowess of the Continental. And those involved aren't purposely ignoring Switzerland's world-class ski resorts but are actually grounded at Gstaad by closed lifts. When you have high-end skis, a 570-hp 4WD vehicle and a ski-joring set-up, though, there's no reason to play Parcheesi at the lodge.

With some tips from Franco Moro, a professional ski-joring legend (yeah, apparently there is such a thing) and Bentley's ski partner Zai - which built these Bentley-branded babies - lucky journalists enjoy a unique ride. After trying ski joring at a local car park, the crew heads out to the open roads to get a little more speed. They get the rig up to 40 mph, which appears to be all kinds of fun.

Now, we'd have to firmly recommend NOT doing this at home, whether you drive a Bentley Continental or a Chevy Aveo. Being towed by a car in the snow is more than a little dangerous and the police aren't too keen on those types of things (we may have tried it once in college and paid the consequences).

So, just live vicariously through those in the video downstairs.

These people are crazy skiing behind a car, they did prove their point tho the BMW does quit well in snow.

Now this is awesome and it really shows how well this car performs in the snow.
