UP Design Unveils Vittoria Concept

Umberto Palermo (UP) Design has unveiled its Vittoria concept at the Qatar Motor Show. The concept, which was announced and teased last month, is a sporty coupe with some really flamboyant design elements. It gets some things right but goes awry in other ways.

Little has been published about the Vittoria, though it's rumored to have a hybrid powertrain with V-8 engine. If that's the case, it should drive as sporty as it looks. The only other hard numbers we've seen are its measurements: 4,750 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,250 mm tall.

That leaves us to speak exclusively about the car's styling - and boy is there a lot going on there. The Vittoria has a muscular, aggressive shape that looks good from certain angles. Unfortunately, due to it’s rounded, heavily raked windshield that makes the hood look rather huge, its shape reminds me more of a low-cut boot - kinda like this - than a car. Meanwhile, the 'cheese grater' grille and exhaust (if all those slots really are exhaust) just look overdesigned - like a creative mind was left free to go crazy, completely unfettered by reality.

On the plus side, we like the rear LEDs a lot and the glass windshield-roof would certainly look nice from inside the cabin. We're wondering if the windshield retracts toward the front to provide an open-top configuration. That would be a rather odd feature, but everything about this concept is odd, and the way the glass is enclosed within the silver roof panel makes it appear that there could be more going on there.

Rumor last month was that the Vittoria is envisioned as more than just a concept car and will blossom into a limited edition supercar. We're not sure if we really want to see that happen.

This car does look a little funky, one thing i do like is the window shield and how big it is. The color and shape are just a bit awkward.

Whats up with the window shield? It looks horrible but i think they should try again on this concept but not very appealing to me.
