Fox Marketing Tuning A 400-HP Nissan Juke

Typically a car as weird as a 485-hp small crossover is something that you'd only be able to find from a tuning house. In the case of the Nissan Juke R, though, it was actually Nissan that thought the concept up. Not surprisingly, the Juke R is inspiring tuners to create their own suped-up versions of the Juke.

Even tuners known for extreme automobiles weren't quite twisted enough to think about dropping Nissan's GT-R powertrain into a Juke. But after seeing Nissan do it step by step, they're inspired enough to try something similar.

At least Fox Marketing is. According to Carsoop, the tuner said: "When we first saw the Nissan Juke R that Nissan UK built, we were blown away. But, to build a vehicle like the Juke R you are talking about a seven figure build budget."

While Fox won't replicate Nissan's efforts, it is pressing ahead with its own Juke R-style project. Instead of using an upgraded engine from the GT-R or another vehicle, Fox is working with the Juke's standard 1.6-liter four-cylinder. With the addition of an intercooler and turbo charging system, the tuner will boost output from 160-hp to 400-hp.

Fox's version will also gain an aerodynamics package, sports seats and upgraded brakes. Fox will finish it off with 20-inch wheels.

No word on the price or predicted performance of the upgraded Juke, but Nissan did release the performance specs of the Juke R recently, so you can whet your appetite with those. Fox plans to finish its tune within the coming months.

Given all the attention that the Juke R has won, we'd expect the Fox Marketing will be but one of many tuners looking to create hot hatch versions of the model.

I really like this Juke R and the performance it has.
