GM Recalls 2010 And 2011 Cadillac SRX Models

GM issued a recall of 2010 and '11 model year SRX crossovers on Thursday. The recall is related to a potentially serious issue in which failing transmissions can allow the SRX to roll out of park.

The recall affects more than 15,000 SRX models worldwide, with about 8,789 located in the United States. The affected models are model year 2010 and 2011 built between October 26, 2008 and June 23, 2011. According to GM, no injuries or deaths have resulted from the transmission issue, but one run-away vehicle has been reported.

The vehicles' transmission shift cable may come lose from the transmission bracket causing problems shifting into or out of park. The car may indicate that it is in park when it is not, leading to a run-away vehicle situation. Alternately, the driver may have trouble shifting out of park.

The run-away model was reported via a letter from the owner in June of this year. GM inspected its current vehicles and found that 11 out of 710 had faulty shift cables that could lead to the transmission parking failure. It repaired those vehicles and will inspect the shift cables for free on all recalled vehicles.

The recall will begin in January and GM will contact owners. Concerned owners can also contact Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339.
