Lamborghini Offers Its Own Winter Driving Course

Ferrari has been gaining all the headlines of late in regards to four-wheel drive and winter driving courses. Its FF is the first Ferrari ever to feature all-wheel drive, and Ferrari is highlighting that fact through its winter driving program in Aspen, Colorado.

Ferrari's biggest in-country rival Lamborghini has a response to that that sounds a little something like "Hey, me too." Lamborghini has been using four-wheel drive for a while now, including on its upcoming Aventador LP700-4, and also has a winter driving course all its own.

The Lamborghini Academy Extreme Driving Experience will be held on three separate two-day blocks in February in the Auronzo Ice Track in Cortina, Italy. Those that attend will have the opportunity to drive the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera and Aventador LP 700-4 on the winter track.

Participants will learn critical winter driving skills like emergency braking, maneuvering with low traction and drifting. They'll get about 10 hours of seat time and will work closely with instructors in groups of just two.

Unlike Ferrari's course, which is designed for Ferrari owners, Lamborghini's course is open to any driving enthusiast that wants to attend. More accurately, any wealthy driving enthuiast that wants to attend: Each weekend costs about $6,000 euros (over $8,000). In addition to the actual driving, the package includes two nights at the Cristallo Palace Hotel, insurance coverage and meals.

So if you prefer Raging Bull over Prancing Horse or think that the luxuries of the American Rockies fall well short of the Italian Dolomites, you have another great option for supercar-on-the-snow driving instruction this winter.
