Something For Everyone: The 2011 Lake Mirror Classic

This year’s Lake Mirror Classic had everything we come to expect—classic and collectible vehicles, street rods, classic motorcycles, wooden boats, and of course the amphicars, but the show had something new for 2011.

Among all the meticulously restored vehicles and their proud owners were about 100 collector cars that were slated for auctioned during this inaugural event. Higgenbotham Auctioneers conducted the outdoors auction on historic Main Street across from Munn Park; there all kinds of interesting collectibles came across the auction block. There was something for everyone from mid 70s Lincoln land yachts to vintage Chris Craft and Garwood boats, including a nice array of entry level collectors cars all the way up to a Rolls Royce.

This year offered me something near and dear to my heart… motorcycles. Every year there is a handful of vintage bikes on display, but this year had a few interesting Japanese classics for my perusal, including a 1964 Honda CA95 Benly touring “barn find” that was farm fresh and propped up on display with only the dirt and dust removed.

The British were represented well with a really nice BSA and a beautifully restored 1968 Norton 20M3 that had been rescued from the scrap heap, taken home, and revived it to its original color and condition.

A 1911 Indian Single Cylinder drew much attention from the crowd and me. I really admired the dedication required to undertake such a task as researching and restoring something that old to exactly the way it was ordered from the factory.

Another successful show in a beautiful setting—you could not dial up better weather for such an event. In its twelfth year, the show had everything we come to expect and a bit more. It’s really a “must do” car event for classic car enthusiasts—if you missed it this year, there is always next year!

Some great shots. That old Bronco would sure look nice in my driveway...
