Ford To Debut Focus Coupe At The Frankfurt Motor Show?

Do you like the solid, affordable package presented by the 2012 Ford Focus, but yearn for something smaller and sportier? Well, Ford may just have what you're looking for. According to rumors, Dearborn has an all-new coupe concept ready for next month's Frankfurt Motor Show. And indications are it's a two-door based on the Focus.

The Focus already comes in four-door and five-door varieties, and if rumors prove correct, will soon be available in a two-door model. Carscoop reports that a source has tipped a new sports coupe for the Frankfurt Motor Show. It's not 100 percent certain that the car will be in the Focus family, but that's what it's looking like.

The coupe is positioned both as a future model—we'd imagine it'll be a 2013 model—and a glimpse at Ford's new design language. It'll likely share the 160-hp 2.0-liter I-4 engine with the Focus sedan and hatchback family.

In a press release in early August, Ford announced that it will debut four brand new designs in Frankfurt. One of those is described as a "major new design concept" and another is the next Focus performance car. Ford didn't hint at what the other two reveals would be.

Ford will debut these new models at an event on the evening before the Frankfurt Motor Show. We'll have some more details on what's going on in Dearborn then.
