Subaru Impreza: Another 2012 Price Hold

With a tumultuous, uncertain auto market ahead, it seems many automakers are taking conservative approaches to the 2012 model year. We've already watched Chrysler drop prices on three models and Honda hold prices steady across the entire Accord line. Now, Subaru has joined in transferring 2011 prices over to 2012.

The 2012 Subaru Impreza will start at the same $18,245 (with destination) as the 2011 model. That's for the Impreza 2.0i base with five-speed manual; addition of the CVT automatic transmission will add $1,000 to the price. The 2.0i five-door will start at $18,745.

Moving up from the base model, the 2.0i Premium costs $19,545 and the five-door Premium 2.0i starts at $20,045. The five-door 2.0i Sport Premium starts at $21,045.

Subaru adds a new Limited range-topper for the 2012 model year. The four-door Impreza Limited 2.0i starts at $22,345 and five-door starts at $22,845. The Sport Limited 2.0i tops the range with a $23,345 base price.

All prices include $750 destination charge.

Subaru adds a smaller, 148-hp 2.0-liter boxer engine to this year's Impreza, a move that offers a projected fuel economy of 27 mpg city/36 highway, up from the 20/27 rating of the 2011 model. All 2012 Impreza models feature Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. When equipped with the Lineartronic CVT transmission, Subaru claims the 2012 Impreza is the "most fuel-efficient all-wheel drive car in America."

The 2012 Impreza hits dealerships this November.
