2012 Honda Accord Price Holds Steady

Some good news and some bad news. Good news: The 2012 Honda Accord sedan and coupe will be priced exactly the same as the 2011 Accord sedan and coupe. The bad news is they'll also be pretty much the same models with nary an improvement or addition. Then again, when you're a solid market-leader like the Accord, maybe that's good news/good news.

The 2012 Honda Accord LX base-model sedan starts at $22,150, a price that includes a $770 destination charge. The base coupe—2012 Honda Accord LX-S—starts at $23,750, including a $770 destination charge. Both prices are exactly the same as the outgoing 2011 base models. Other trim levels like the Accord EX and EX V-6 also carry over 2011 pricing.

The 2012 Accord Sedan is available in the following trims: 4-cylinder Accord LX, LX-P (Premium), SE, EX, and EX-L, and the 6-cylinder Accord EX V-6 and EX-L V-6. Coupe models include the 4-cylinder Accord LX-S, EX, EX-L and the 6-cylinder Accord EX V-6 and EX-L V-6.

Honda did all its upgrading last year and decided that it was pretty confident in its Accord, saying in a statement: "The 2012 lineup, features and specifications remain similar to the 2011 model year when the Accord received upgrades for fuel economy and styling."

The 2011 Accord with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed automatic tops the model's EPA ratings with a 23 city / 34 highway mpg rating. The most efficient Accord coupe gets a 23 city / 32 highway rating. The 2012 Accord Sedan has also earned a 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to Honda's press release.

One minor change: Honda made a USB interface standard on all 2012 Accord models, so you'll be able to enjoy all your favorite MP3s without any aftermarket hacking.

While the Accord remains the same, rising prices on competitor models mean that it will be an even better value for the 2012 model year.
