UPDATED: The Car Show Premieres Tonight On SPEED

The Car Show premieres tonight on SPEED, and I don’t know about you, but we’re pretty excited about it. The Car Show is hosted by comedian and car fanatic Adam Carolla, Pulitzer Prize-winning automotive journalist Dan Neil, founder of “TheSmokingTire.com” Matt Farah and former co-host of The Best Damn Sports Show and NBA champion John Salley. Not a bad cast.

Whether or not you’re aware of Carolla’s history with them, it’s impossible not to mention Top Gear. With their second season also airing this month (July 24th on the History Channel), Top Gear USA will be The Car Show’s biggest competitor. And striking visuals and production value similar to the original BBC version will make Top Gear USA a serious threat. However, the USA version seems to fall short where most of us fell in love with Top Gear in the first place. Those beautiful visuals of the BBC version were just an added bonus to the massive amounts of fun and hilarity brought on by hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, whereas the American hosts always seem like they’re reading from a cue card just slightly off-screen.

This is why we are excited. We’re not expecting huge explosions and drag races against fighter jets. That’s all great, but what we really want is a show about cars that’s actually fun to watch.

SPEED calls The Car Show “a new series in which everything in the automotive world is fair game… the ultimate car lover’s show, featuring awesome cars, epic driving adventures and the best of automotive culture… the perfect mix of comedy, shop talk and eye candy.”

If that sounds like something you might be into, The Car Show premieres tonight at 10pm ET on SPEED.

Let us know what you think about it.

The show had a certain "Best Damn Sports Show" feel to it. Why not rip-off..I mean.. borrow from a successful sports show? Overall I liked the show, it was not trying to be TOP GEAR! Best off all there were no goofy redneck hosts to be found! Good Job...
