Aston To Build V12 Zagato

It appears the cat is out of the bag in terms of Aston Martin V12 Zagato production. According toAutocar, the Zagato was listed on the company's website last week, along with a little disclaimer: "Only a strictly limited run of road going cars will be built." So it looks like Aston is following through on its sexy concept.

Aston originally debuted the V12 Zagato at Lake Como, Italy's Concorso d’Eleganza Ville D'Este in late-May. Based upon the V12 Vantage and its 510-hp 6.0-liter V12, the V12 Zagato received unique styling treatment from the coachbuilder that shares its name. It was designed to celebrate 50 years of Aston-Zagato collaboration.

The V12 Zagato went on to take home the Ville D'Este's award for best concept car, and later participated in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. The race-spec V12 Zagato included additional equipment, like a large rear wing and rear diffuser.

Aston reportedly denied the production plans upon a follow-up last week, despite the pretty clear indications from its website. To make things even more confusing, a spokesperson told Autocar: "We’ll be sending out an official press release within a couple of weeks." I'd have to guess that Aston wouldn't polish up a whole press release just to tell the world that it has no plans for production, so this kind of confirms it in a not-too-confirming way.

It'll be interesting to see how many V12 Zagatos it offers and what the price tag looks like.
