Closer To Lamborghini Sesto Production

Just a few days ago, we heard that Sesto Elemento production is already a given inside the walls of Lamborghini headquarters. It appears only a matter of time before Lamborghini makes the announcement. While it hasn't quite done that, anonymous insiders have been doing some gumming about what the Sesto Elemento will look like, and despite being about as conceptual a car as we've ever seen from Lamborghini, it should look quite similar in production as it did in concept.

According to Autocar, company insiders have indicated that Lamborghini is actually in the advanced stages of Sesto development. That report gels with last week's report out of Germany that Lamborghini will look to launch the car this fall.

While you'd expect such a shell of a concept to add a little weight, even though it won't add the safety features [weight] necessary to make it street-legal, indications from CEO Stephan Winkelmann are that Lamborghini plans to keep the production version very close to the 2,002 lbs. of the concept.

The latest report supports the notion that Lamborghini will build no more than 20 production Sesto Elementos. It also lends some support to a price tag as high as 2-million euros ($2.8 million). Other recent speculation has put the price anywhere from $2.5 million to $3.5 million. Whatever Lamborghini decides on, the Sesto won't be cheap or easy to get one's hands on.

The production Sesto should share most of its design and components with the concept model. It will be powered by the same 570-hp 5.2-liter V10 engine and should have much of the same minimalistic, exposed carbon fiber build as the concept. It will hit 62 mph in 2.5 seconds and top out somewhere over 186 mph.

Like the Sesto concept, it looks like the media may force Lamborghini into an early reveal...
