Porsche Introduces Cayman S Black Edition

You probably know this already, but it's a new month. You know what that means? Porsche has a new version of one of its cars to debut. Following in the footsteps of February's Boxster S Black Edition and the 911 Black Edition before that, Porsche has blacked-out the Cayman in a bit of a hat tip to the current generation model, which is set to be replaced within the next year.

As you'd likely guess, the Cayman S Black Edition gets the black paint treatment outside. Inside, it gets black sports seats, black trim, black instrument dials, a sports steering wheel, and stainless steel entry guards with "Black Edition" badging, and a commemorative badge on the glove compartment. The Porsche Sound Plus Package brings infotainment with Porsche Communication Management. The car sits on 19-inch, black Boxster Spyder wheels—8.5 inches wide up-front, 10 in back.

It's pretty much Porsche's standard 'Black Edition' run-through.

In terms of power, Porsche borrows the 325-hp 3.4-liter six-cylinder from the Cayman R, delivering 10 extra ponies to the Cayman S. That boost cuts 0.1 second off the 0 to 62 mph time, bringing it down to 5.1 seconds. If you don't mind surrendering a little control over to a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, you can cut that time all the way to 4.8 seconds. Top speed is 173 mph (or 172 with the PDK).

Porsche will limit production to 500 units. Those models will start hitting dealers beginning in July and will retail for $67,500.
