New Jeep/Mopar Wranglers Teased

Easter is divided along car/truck lines if you're an automobile fan. For car enthusiasts, it means the New York Auto Show is in town. And for truck/4WD enthusiasts, it means the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. We've heard plenty of reports and rumors relating to the former, and this week, we received a first peek at the latter. Jeep/Mopar teased a few of the new special editions that it will unveil at the 45th Easter Jeep Safari later this month.

The newly teased models are the Wrangler "Renegade" and the Wrangler "Pork Chop." While Jeep's renderings take us beyond the typical teaser picture, their accompanying press release leaves the hard details to the imagination. It gives no real information outside of setting us up for the Moab event, leaving us to analyze the pictures for clues.

I don't know about the name, but in terms of design, the Pork Chop is definitely the more interesting of the two. The model gets a full, heavy-duty roll cage and a rather open bed in back. The cage is painted in red, which, along with a red stripe on the hood and red interior, offsets the grey exterior paint. The model definitely looks ready to climb foreboding rocks and cut through desert dirt.

The Renegade, on the other hand, looks to be less rough-and-tumble and more feature oriented. We can make out dual-toned leather interior, and on the outside, we see a unique hood with "Renegade" badging. The gas tank cover matches the coloring on the badging.

The Renegade and Pork Chop will be two of the six models that Jeep and Mopar reveal at the Easter Jeep Safari, which runs from April 16 through Easter Sunday (April 24). No word on what the other four are all about, but we'll see them all within a few weeks.

Last year, Jeep made a stir with a retro model that it called the NuKizer 715, a jeep pickup inspired by classic Jeep military trucks. Rumors of production have followed (Sergio Marchionne himself was quoted as being interested in production), but Chrysler has yet to confirm.
