Porsche Panamera S Hybrid Gets Two Video Parts

To introduce a radical idea to hybrid technology. That, in a nutshell, is why Porsche is building the Panamera S Hybrid. Or, at least, that's what Porsche's marketing team came up with for a new Panamera promo video. Which brings me to another point: there's a new Panamera S Hybrid promo video. In fact, there are two. After announcing the car last week, Porsche is now on to advertising the Panamera S Hybrid before its 2011 Geneva Motor Show debut.

As you might expect, the move to a hybrid powertrain doesn't really affect the Panamera's performance too much. Not visually anyway. On paper, there is that half a second difference in the 0 to 62 mph time and 8 mph loss in the top speed column, but as seen in Porsche's video, the hybrid Panamera remains as quick, agile, and lively as less eco-minded Porsche four doors.

At least we assume so. The Porsche trailers aren't exactly balls-to-the-wall track footage. They're more about everyday driving—if your everyday driving includes jaunts through idyllic European villages; sprints down empty, winding mountain roads, and endless voyages against water-scaped backgrounds.

One thing is for sure: that warm, light green looks pretty good on the Panamera hybrid.

The Panamera S Hybrid is Porsche's second hybrid and uses the same system as its first hybrid (Cayenne S Hybrid): a supercharged 333-hp 3.0-liter V6 engine and a 47-hp electric motor that can work separately or together to power the wheels. That combination gives the Panamera S Hybrid up to one mile of all-electric driving and a U.S. rating around 34.5 mpg. Those numbers make it the "most efficient Porsche of all time," according to Stuttgart.

The Porsche Panamera S Hybrid will come to the States later this year with a starting price of $95K. Before that, it'll make its auto show debut in Switzerland in about a week. Check 'er out:
