Three New Bentleys In Store, Will Feature Porsche Platforms

We know that Porsche has been tasked with developing the architecture for Volkswagen Group sports cars and large, premium sedans, and it looks like one of its first jobs under that responsibility will be to develop the underpinnings of several new Bentleys. According to a report by Auto Express, Bentley will be launching three new vehicles over the next several years, and they are all set to be planted on Porsche underpinnings.

The first new Bentley in the pipleline is an all-new Continental GT sedan, which will likely share its platform with the next-generation Panamera. The coupe will share its engine options with the Continental GT coupe, but the W12 is expected to get tuned up to more than 600 horses before being fitted to the five-door. The second engine option is a 4.0-liter V8 being developed with the help of Audi, an engine that will debut in the current Continental GT next year. A diesel engine is another possibility. The rumored price is 150,000 GBP ($244K).

Not too surprisingly given the penchant of nearly every luxury and sports car maker to offer an SUV/crossover, Bentley will also develop a crossover, based on the Porsche Cayenne. Possibly bearing the badge 'Cross Continental', the Bentley crossover would be upmarket of the Cayenne, featuring a higher level interior, and sharing the W12 and V8 engines with the Continental GT models. Speculation puts the price around 120,000 GBP ($195K).

Finally, Bentley is also considering an entry level car below the Continental GT. That car would be positioned as a higher volume Bentley and would carry a price in the 90,000 GBP ($146K) range. Expect that one to be offered with a V8 engine.

Will one of these new Bentley designs be among the 7 rumored VW AG concepts at Geneva? We only have to wait a week or so to find out.
