CEC Lexus LFA Tuned Edition

The $375,000, 500-model Lexus LFA supercar just got even more exclusive. A lot more exclusive. That is if you don't mind paying a tuner to pimp out the interior and exterior without any performance upgrades.

American tuner Claus Ettensberger Corporation announced the highly uncreatively named LFA "Tuner Edition" this week. It will offer the package on just three of the 500 LFAs that Lexus plans to build, making it an ultra-exclusive, if not entirely exciting, tuner package.

CEC's package will include superficial upgrading only; there will be no engine or other performance enhancements. Instead, buyers will get a made-over exterior that includes new carbon fiber body parts; lightweight, 21-inch forged wheels; and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The interior of the car will get carbon fiber trim. CEC hasn't yet detailed the specific carbon fiber pieces that it will use.

Claus Ettensberger explained the reasoning for sticking to aesthetic modification only: "We looked at the LFA and what Lexus engineers had done, and knew it would be crazy to try and improve it from a performance or engineering standpoint. It is just an engineering marvel, so we decided that we would try and visually individualize the car by making additions that would complement its stunning design features."

Sounds like a line that every tuner who decides to slap some carbon fiber and Alcantara on a sports car without touching the engine could use, but I suppose that's their prerogative. Plus, early indications are that the package won't be expensive—as far as carbon fiber supercar tuner packages are concerned. Edmunds states that the package will cost a "slight premium" over the price of the LFA. It will be offered to exactly three customers on either the regular 2011 LFA and LFA Nurburgring.

Unfortunately there are no pictures of the of the LFA Tuner Edition just yet, so you'll have to settle for looking at the regular LFA and LFA Nurburgring.
