Justin Bell Will Test Drive Next Generation Focus

Ford recently announced that the Madrid Focus Global Test Drive in February will be hosted by race car driver Justin Bell. Bell brings 20 years of road racing experience to the Global Test Drive program. Ford will later announce other celebrity guests for the event.

From 1992 through 1996 Bell and his father, racing veteran Derek Bell, participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Bell was the FIA GT champion in the GT2 class in 1997, and was Trans AM rookie of the year in the 2001. He was FIA GT champion in the GT2 class in 1997, a class winner in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans

Bell has also appeared on the Jay Leno Show since 2008 as a celebrity driving instructor demonstrating the Ford Focus Electric prototype.

Bell will be involved in training Focus Global Test Drive participants at the INTA-National Institute for Aerospace Technology, an aeronautical research facility with diverse road conditions, making it the perfect place for driving events.

“Running an instructional program for race drivers for several years represents one of my most rewarding experiences,” said Bell. “Our test driver guests will be getting a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience behind the wheel of the all-new Focus, and I look forward to helping each of them have some fun and find their groove as we put the new Focus through its paces.”

The Global Test Drive Program in Madrid will be a 3-day event from February 18th through the 20th, 2011. The challenges set up are intended to demonstrate the unique features and technologies of the Focus. Local charities will benefit throughout the event.

Ford fans from around the world will be invited to apply to be considered to participate in the event by submitting videos explaining why they should be chosen. Prospective test drivers must generate money for a specific charity from the available categories of education, environmental, and world hunger.

The new Ford Focus will be arriving at dealerships in the first quarter of 2011.
