Aston Martin Introduces Special Edition DB9 Models

Aston Martin has become our favorite sports car maker of the holiday season. Last year, Aston introduced limited edition 'Carbon Black' models of the DBS and V12 Vantage. That was about a week before Christmas. This year, Aston waited a tad bit longer with its 2010 gift to the world, with a December 22 unveiling of three special edition DB9 models, one of which is another 'Carbon Black' model. This is a little holiday tradition that I hope continues. It sure beats writing about highway safety regulations and minor model-year updates on the harried week before the holidays.

In addition to Carbon Black, Aston will offer Morning Frost and Quantum Silver editions, making for a beautiful assortment of neutral but stunning DB9s.

The DB9s aren't limited to some special edition paint jobs; each model exemplifies Aston's balance of luxury and sportiness. The Morning Frost edition is meant to capitalize on the luxury end, using touches like metallic bronze leather interior, piano-black center console and door pulls, silver grille, silver brake calipers, and 19-inch, 10-spoke diamond-turned wheels to convey a sense of refinement and elegance. The Carbon Black and Quantum Silver models, on the other hand, work in the sport sector, with upgrades like remapped sport exhaust and graphite tailpipes for a deeper voice, and 10-spoke, gloss-black forged-alloy wheels. Inside, each of the latter two models gets an obsidian black interior with piano-black trim.

The engine specs of these models remain the same as the standard DB9: 470-hp 6.0-liter V12. That engine is mated to the Touchtronic II automatic transmission.

If you have the resources, you can get your order in before the official start of the holidays: orders are available now. Each model costs $204,000.
